Saturday, I finally got around to finishing up the fork seals on the Benelli. When I took it for its first spin today with fresh engine oil and and fork seals, I noticed that it backfired a couple of times. When I got home I put it on the lift and checked the spark plug: black. Thinking that I must have neglected to drop the needle in slide when I took possession of the bike a year or so ago, I lowered it a notch. When I took the bike back out around the block and then returned home and set the idle (single carbs make this so much easier), I checked the plug again and it showed a nice tannish color.
I have not needed to rejet any of my motorcycles for Albuquerque's altitude; that said, all have required the dropping of the slide needle a notch.
In other news, I finally got around to creating a custom pigtail for the Trail 90, so that it can go on the Battery Tender. I really should own stock in DelTran, since I will run out of sockets in the 4-bank Tender when the F1 arrives. Am I really in the market for a 10-banker?
