Dream Fragment: Real Estate
My father two brothers sister and I were checking out a house my sister had just bought. We walk through the interior of the house which is largely period-correct and solid.¹ Once outside, I see the air mattress on the ground upon which three of them had been sleeping.² The yard had no fences, and twine had been strung up to mark the boundaries. We were mystified that there was a length of string running perpindicular to the other lines, bisecting backyard. To the side was an old overgrown playhouse. A white cat with black tips was in the bushes at the edge of the cyclone fence. Selkye ran over and chased the cat, who jumped over the fence.³ Then Selkye jumped over the fence after her. I took off after Selkye. I called out to the dog. When I was able to see what was what, the cat was obviously injured, and Selkye was curled up on the ground.
[Note: At this point in the dream, the chiming bells of my late 20th Century Taiwanese electronic waking device awoke me.]
¹ She is in real life buying a house in this condition. This one was similar but not identical to the one she bought.
² We have been discussing air mattresses here as her new house's first guest may be sleeping on one shortly.
³ Selkye enjoys chasing cats. This one was similar but not identical to one next door to us.

1. your family sharing an air mattress. this is an interesting concept.
2. per-PIN-dicular: is this akin to at-a-NEEDLE?

I should use twine to keep my roommate's stuff out of my half of the fridge...
