Blog Worthy Bus Adventures
- On the the 50S to school, I made a point of sitting next to the second prettiest girl rather than the prettiest, who resembled no one so much as Lisa Loeb with wire rim instead of tortoise shell glasses. The pretty one carried a Cabela's bag. Have I seen her before, carrying a Cabela's bag? (There is a fellow with whom I have shared two consecutive bus rides who packed a Cabela's catalog for reading material. But never a Cabela's bag.) Perhaps I did not want to infect her with my cold, which sadly persists. My big disappointment came when I noticed that her lips moved while she read. I hoped that she was studying ancient Greek, or some topic that required her to mouth along to the text. My benchmate was reading an introductory text to British history. I too have read such texts, and I wanted to share this information. Out of courtesy and in respect of bus-etiquette, I did not.
- Having exited my statistics class, I dashed to board the Campus Connector. We did not move. An idiot with South Dakota plates refused to move his car, and so we were blocked. I guess those double-jointed buses do not have a reverse gear. The driver got out and yelled at the guy. Bus passengers got out and yelled at the guy. The cops were called. Interestingly, there is almost always a cop car with lights flashing outside this very building. Not today, I suppose. Eventually, idiot's girlfriend came out, entered the car and they took off.
Now I am off to class.
