A Home Run

Just so you know, there is a first time for everything, even at my advanced age. Maybe it was hearing my profs argue about which of them is older (they are all about 31-32 years old) that motivated me.

Our opponents were the only undefeated team in the league. I mean, it is slow pitch so it really hardly matters. But that hit took off just over the glove over the last fielder, and I was off. As I rounded third, I saw that the ball was going to go home. The last thing I wanted was for it to count for nothing, so I did a major-league slide into the plate. The catcher missed the ball anyways because the sun was in her eyes.

But it was my first home run. Ever. Mind you, this is the first time I ever played organized softball. Just shows that anyone can do it.
